Great recipes with food porn photos! Features good nutrition, reasonably-sized portions -- & totally delish! Probably one of my most favourite cookbooks to date. Super healthy without being unrealistic. Flavourful, inventive, using mostly simple ingredients. I've loved everything I've made so far. I think this will be the first cookbook I reach for when I do my weekly meal planning. Thank you Dr. Weil!
The recipes this collection look great for a wealthy person having a dinner party, or a major foodie. For the average so so cook (which is what I am) there isn't much here to tempt. I guess the book I'm really looking for is "Fast Food, Good Food, Easy Food, Healthy Food, Cheap Food". Gorgeous pictures, though! Some of these recipes are wonderful ... most of them are! They just aren't the way my family eats. His pyramid focuses too much on grains and soy products. The recipes for fish, salads and soups are excellent -- both easy and flavorful. I'm really anxious to make some of them. Some of these recipes are wonderful ... most of them are! Amazing, beautiful and inspiring cookbook. I love the soup, salad and veggie sections in the book. I always want to try new ways to cook my veggies. Some of the ingredients are pricey but there is always a way to tweak the flavors/spices and make it your own way. Great tips too, like letting your garlic sit for 10 minutes after you mince it, to get the molecules in the garlic just right. Tried it with my guacamole tonight. The anti-inflammatory food pyramid in the back is genius and I would love Amazing, beautiful and inspiring cookbook. I love the soup, salad and veggie sections in the book. Checked this book out of the library and wish I had my own copy! Beautiful book, easy to follow recipes. I am confident I could create all the fish recipes….which is a totally amazing statement!
Andrew Weil supports The Anti-Inflammatory Diet, which I like to follow.
If you enjoy reading cookbooks, give this one a try!***Found for a great price on Amazon, so I just ordered the book. Red Lentil Dal simmering on the stove now.
I make several recipes a week I haven't used a cookbook, except to look up a favorite recipe, for years. I mainly cook from cooking blogs. These recipes are so good, I've been making several a week. My favorites so far are the shrimp tortilla soup, Japanese pancake, and Thai egg salad. I've learned some new ways to cook fish, too.
I will say these are often not as fast as I expected, given the title of the book. But the flavor, variety, and quality make up for it.

I don't understand all the low ratings for this book. I thought it was beautiful and includes lots of recipes I want to try. Even with the abundance of meat dishes, still might be worth buying. to be fair, most of the recipes just contained ingredients i don't eat (like dairy or gluten) or don't like (like mushrooms which are featured heavily in this book). there's lots of seafood too which is a bit too expensive for me to get often. i definitely saved a few recipes to try for later though which sound good to me! (including a dairy free cashew milk based frozen dessert & yummy sounding lentil & salad recipes)
A cookbook with easy and quick recipes with ingredients most people can afford and buy at most grocery stores. It encourages you to fill up with vegetables and fruits, good carbs, healthy fats, fish for the omega oil, limited chicken, beef, cheese and red wine and some desserts. I've flagged at least a dozen recipes to try soon. A cookbook with easy and quick recipes with ingredients most people can afford and buy at most grocery stores. I like Dr. Weil's recipe for broccoli pancakes, so I thought I would give this cookbook a shot. I agree with other reviewers that many of the main dish recipes are out of budget for middle class families (if only I could afford halibut and shellfish on a regular basis). However, there are some tasty, inexpensive recipes I am excited to try using beans and vegetables, particularly in the soup section. The Quinoa Fried "Rice" recipe is already a requested regular in my house. I would love to make I like Dr. Weil's recipe for broccoli pancakes, so I thought I would give this cookbook a shot. I would love to make Dr. Weil's vegetable stock recipe but I am having a tough time finding kombu--I had hoped I could get it at Sprout's but I think I will have to go to an Asian market. Many people think to eat well you have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but in this cookbook Andrew Weil shows that you can make good food fast. The cookbook is divided into the "normal" segments - starters, soup, main dishes, sides, desserts, etc. While a lot of the recipes looked good, there were only a few I wanted to try myself. Overall, a middle-of-the-road kind of cookbook - good but not amazing or ground-breaking. This is the first of Andrew Weil's cookbooks that I have perused. He aims to deliver nutritious and delicious foods and he delivers. Although I don't agree with all of nutrition ideas, we agree on most things. He uses whole foods which is a must for me. I'm looking forward to trying out many of these recipes. The photos are also good. They highlight the food and most recipes are pictured.

The Recipes were nice enough, but I don't see myself making any of them. It's hard to translate unless you read this, but while I can see doing this maybe for a couple, if you have kids this is a waste of time.
